The Department of Economics was established in 2009 under the name of the Department of Economics and Finance, under the Faculty of Business Administration of Akdeniz University Alanya. With the establishment of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University, our department, which was under the Faculty of Business Administration, continues its research and teaching activities as the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences as of 2020, and as the "Department of Economics" under the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences as of 2021. The department also offers master's and doctoral degrees in economics.

The aim of the department of economics is to systematically examine the structure, functioning, development and problems of today's economies with a curriculum suitable for the micro and macro characteristics of an economy, sensitive to the developments in Turkey and the world economy, thinking universally, innovative, participatory, broad horizon, sufficient self-confidence, high academic skills. Our aim is to train economists who are experts in their fields, who can do qualified and effective research and create added value. In this context, an education is provided that enables the economist to benefit from all kinds of sub-disciplines such as history, sociology, law, business administration and to use quantitative techniques.
