About Department

The Department of Public Finance at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University was established in 2021. In addition to the core courses of public finance—such as public finance theory, fiscal law, fiscal economics, budgeting, and fiscal planning—the department also offers courses in economics, business administration, accounting, and law, providing students with opportunities to develop themselves in a broader academic and professional spectrum.

Currently, the department has a total of six academic staff members: two Professors, one Associate Professor, two Assistant Professors (PhD), and one Research Assistant.

The primary objective of the Department of Public Finance is to equip students with the necessary knowledge and competencies to attain high-level positions in both the public and private sectors, particularly in areas such as Tax Auditorship, Bank Auditorship, Budget Expertise, Administrative Judiciary, Court of Accounts Auditing, Capital Market Expertise, and District Governorship. In line with this goal, the department focuses on enhancing students’ analytical and research capabilities.

Mission:
To educate self-confident, dedicated, and qualified professionals and scholars who are capable of competing at both national and international levels in their field; to produce scientific contributions through research, projects, and publications; and to contribute to society with the knowledge accumulated in the field of public finance.

Vision:
To be a department that operates by its core values and principles, adapting to and contributing to developments primarily in public finance and related disciplines, with a strong academic staff in both quality and quantity; to graduate students who are capable of holding significant positions in both the public and private sectors; and to provide students not only with academic knowledge but also with social skills and values.

Program Qualifications – Department of Public Finance

  • Acquires the ability to comprehend, critically evaluate, analyze, and interpret fundamental conceptual knowledge related to financial and economic matters.
  • Gains knowledge about the economic dimension of the public sector, public financial management and control, and the functioning and theoretical foundations of public budgeting, within the framework of current developments and public finance theory.
  • Possesses theoretical and legal knowledge regarding the taxation process, understands the practical operation of tax systems, can interpret related issues, and follows developments in the field of taxation.
  • Evaluates the role of the public sector in the globalization process and is capable of developing policies against potential opportunities and threats in the international fiscal context.
  • Understands and analyzes cause-and-effect relationships between economic and financial issues using quantitative methods and can develop policy recommendations accordingly.
  • Communicates acquired knowledge on financial, economic, and social matters in both written and oral form, guided by ethical values.
  • Possesses the ability to follow change and innovation based on cultural, social, and ethical values, thereby contributing to the accumulation of human capital.
  • Can collect and compile data and information related to the field, and transform them into a scientific project through individual or group work.
